Common problems

Why many company websites in Indonesia underperform

Most websites look acceptable. The problems show up in what happens after a visitor arrives.

A nice design that produces few enquiries

The site looks professional but does not explain the offer clearly or tell visitors what to do next. Contact options are hidden in the footer or on one page.

One language does not serve both audiences

Head office and expat buyers read English, while many local decision-makers and staff prefer Bahasa Indonesia. A machine-translated second language often reads poorly and is skipped by search engines.

Slow on the phones people actually use

Large images, heavy themes and too many plugins make pages slow on mobile data. Visitors leave before the page finishes loading.

Locked in after launch

The team cannot edit pages without the original developer, nobody knows who holds the domain and hosting logins, and no one can say which pages bring in leads.

Our approach

A website planned around the enquiry, not just the look

We start with the business questions: who visits, what they need to know before contacting you, and what a good enquiry looks like. The page structure, copy and design follow from those answers. Forms and WhatsApp buttons are placed where a decision is likely, and every enquiry is tracked so you can see which pages work.

For international teams, we work in English, share written updates every one to two weeks and plan approval rounds with head office in mind. At the end you receive the logins, a CMS your team can use, and a short handover so the site does not depend on us.

  • Page structure based on your buyers' questions
  • English, Bahasa Indonesia or a bilingual setup
  • Forms and WhatsApp connected and tested
  • GA4 and conversion events set up before launch
  • Handover of accounts, CMS training and documentation
Scope

What a website project with SAB can include

Every project is scoped in a proposal. These are the building blocks we combine for most company websites.

Website strategy and sitemap

Goals, audiences, page list and the main conversion actions agreed before any design work, so the build has a clear brief.

UI/UX design

Responsive page designs for desktop and mobile, with clear navigation, readable typography and calls to action that fit each page.

Bilingual EN/ID setup

Separate English and Indonesian versions with proper language switching and language tags, so both versions can be found in search.

Development and CMS

A website built on a content management system such as WordPress, set up so your team can edit text, images and news without touching code.

Forms and WhatsApp integration

Enquiry forms that send to the right inbox and WhatsApp buttons with a prefilled message, tested on real devices before launch.

Speed, SEO foundations and analytics

Image optimisation, clean page titles and headings, an XML sitemap, GA4 and conversion events, so the site starts on a solid technical base.

How it works

From brief to a site your team can run

SAB works in four stages: discovery, strategy, execution and optimization. For a website project, it looks like this.

Discovery call

A 30-minute call about your business, audiences, current site, languages and who needs to approve the work.

Sitemap and content plan

We agree the page list, the main actions on each page and who supplies which content, including any translation.

Design

Key pages are designed first and reviewed with your team. Approved designs become the pattern for the remaining pages.

Build, test and launch

Development, content entry, forms, WhatsApp and tracking, then checks on mobile and desktop before the site goes live.

Handover and improvement

Logins, CMS training and documentation are handed over. Optional maintenance and improvements follow, based on enquiry data.

Options compared

Template builder, freelancer or a web design agency

Each option suits a different situation. This comparison helps you choose for the website you need now.

Template builders and good freelancers are the right choice for many projects. An agency fits best when several people must approve the site, two languages are needed, and the site has to produce measurable enquiries.

Practical guide

How to plan a corporate website in Indonesia that brings in enquiries

Whether you work with SAB or another agency, these steps make a website project faster and the result more useful.

Write down the one action each page should drive

For each key page, decide the main action: send an enquiry, chat on WhatsApp, download a brochure or book a visit. If a page has no clear action, ask whether it needs to exist. This list becomes your brief and your tracking plan.

Plan bilingual content properly

Decide early which pages need both English and Indonesian, and who writes or reviews each language. Give each language its own URL, link the versions with language tags, and avoid auto-translation widgets for core pages. A short, well-written Indonesian page beats a long, machine-translated one.

Offer both forms and WhatsApp

Many visitors in Indonesia prefer to start a conversation on WhatsApp, while procurement and overseas contacts often prefer email forms. Offer both, with a prefilled WhatsApp message, and make sure someone is responsible for replying to each channel.

Set a speed budget before design

Agree limits on image sizes, fonts, sliders and third-party scripts before the design is final. It is easier to keep a site fast than to fix a slow one. Test on a mid-range Android phone on mobile data, not only on office Wi-Fi.

Keep ownership of your accounts

Register the domain, hosting, CMS admin, GA4 and Google Search Console under company-owned accounts, and add your agency as a user. This protects you if staff or suppliers change. Keep the list of logins in your company password manager.

Handle personal data with care

Enquiry forms collect personal data. Ask only for what you need, add a short privacy notice, and decide who can access submissions. Check your obligations under Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 27 of 2022) with your legal advisor.

Is a website project with SAB right for you?

It works best when the website has a business job to do, not only a brand one.

A good fit if

  • You are a foreign-owned company, international team, school or B2B firm in Indonesia
  • You need English, Bahasa Indonesia or both, done properly
  • You want the site to produce enquiries you can measure
  • Your team wants to update content without a developer
  • You can name one person to coordinate feedback and approvals

Probably not a fit yet if

  • You need a complex web application or custom software platform
  • You only want the cheapest possible template site
  • No one on your side has time to review content or designs
Cost

What affects the cost of a company website

We do not publish fixed prices, because websites differ widely. Cost is built from the factors below and set out in a proposal.

Number and type of pages

A focused five-page site and a site with product catalogues, case studies and news sections need very different effort.

Languages and content

A bilingual site adds pages and review work. Whether you supply final copy or need help writing and adapting it also matters.

Design and functionality

Custom design, integrations, booking or catalogue features add effort compared with a standard layout and contact forms.

Support after launch

Hosting arrangements, maintenance, security updates and ongoing changes can be scoped separately or as a monthly plan.

Exact scope, timeline, taxes and payment terms are set out in the proposal. Third-party costs such as domain, hosting, premium plugins or ad media spend are listed separately.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of websites have you built?

SAB website projects on sab.id/works include myfab (construction frameworks and panel manufacturing), Airis Dental Clinic, Shopified (a Shopify e-commerce developer) and Masalalu Coffee. Their scopes cover website strategy, UI/UX design, WhatsApp and form integration, development and analytics setup.

Can you build a bilingual English and Indonesian website?

Yes. We plan which pages need both languages, set up separate language versions with proper switching and language tags, and agree who writes or reviews each language. We work with clients in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Which platform will you use?

Most company sites we build run on a content management system such as WordPress, so your team can edit content. We recommend a platform during the discovery stage based on your needs, and we tell you honestly if a project needs a different kind of developer.

Do you guarantee leads or Google rankings?

No. A website can make enquiries easier and more measurable, but results also depend on your offer, traffic and follow-up. We agree the measures we track before launch. Any performance commitment applies only if it is written in a signed agreement.

Who owns the website and accounts after launch?

We recommend that your company owns the domain, hosting, CMS admin and analytics accounts, with SAB added as a user. Ownership of designs and content is set out in the proposal and agreement.

Do you offer maintenance after launch?

Yes, as an optional scope. It can cover updates, backups, security checks, small changes and performance checks. Some clients prefer to run the site themselves after the handover, which is also fine.

How long does a website project take?

It depends on the number of pages, languages, and how quickly content and feedback come in. We agree a timeline with milestones in the proposal. Late content and long approval chains are the most common causes of delay.

How do we get started?

Book a 30-minute call at schedule.sab.id or message us on WhatsApp. Share your current website, the languages you need, a few sites you like, and who will approve the work.

Plan your next company website with SAB

Send us your current website (if any), your main audiences, the languages you need, the action you want visitors to take, and your target launch date.
